  • Conversation started today

  • She had had enough.
“Only trying to help them wasn’t I?” she thought. The very next moment she knew it was a lie. Not the complete truth at least. She’d been selfish. Hell, she’d been intimidated and envious of her own sister.
Helen Reynolds was sitting, rather slouching on top of her bed. She had her most comfortable pajamas and t-shirt on. The white cell-phone which was perched on the bed-side table buzzed. Immediately the black-haired girl sprang up, her black eyes sparkling. It only took a momentary glance at the screen of her cell-phone for the shine to disappear yet again.
“Done wid Downey’s assign.?” , was the text on the screen.
This assignment was the last thing Helen wanted to hear about. It was because of this that everything had started hadn’t it?
    Again, a lie.
“It was you” a voice inside her head said.
“Oh shut up!” Helen said aloud. She really was going crazy. If talking to yourself didn’t fall under the category of insane, what did?
She got up and went to the mirror. A short, dark girl stared back at her.
    The phone buzzed again.
This time the respond was not all that quick. She kept on staring at her reflection.
“How did I become like this?” Helen thought about the millionth time that week.
As she went up towards her bed and picked up her phone, the ‘how’ stared back at her.
The text which now read on the screen was from Paul.
“u there hell girl?” it read. Helen smiled and replied at once. “don’t worry I haven’t killed myself. yet”.
    She slumped onto the bed.
“OUCH!” she’d hit her head on the bed stead.
“Just when you thought you couldn’t get any clumsier” a cheerful voice said from the door of the attached bathroom.
Helen stuck out her tongue at her pretty sister. “You sure finished fast today. I So miss the time when you took an hour for a ‘quick’ shower” she giggled.
Now it was Karen’s turn to stick out her tongue. “I’m really tired. I’m going to bed.” Karen said before slipping into her bed on the opposite side of Helen’s.
“You should do the same you know”, came Karen’s muffled voice through the sheets just as Helen was checking her cell phone for the reply.
“Yeah yeah I’m going!!” she rolled her eyes and smiled. She is still my sister.
“Glad to hear dat..go get some sleep now..can’t wait for tomorrow” Paul had replied.
Tomorrow. Everything and everyone she knew would probably want her dead by tomorrow.
“Yeah, me too.” Helen texted back and shut her eyes. She hoped that when she woke up tomorrow, the past week would only have been a terrible nightmare.
